Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief

15 02 2010

”Wolfman”/

Percy Jackson, a teenager, a son of Poseidon, don’t know who his father is. As the title says, the story is about the stolen Zeus’s lightning bolt. The king of Gods places the blame on Percy and has given 14 days to return the bolt or a war of the Gods will begin. As a confused teenager, Percy is amazed by seeing his teacher turns to a beast, a pen into a knife, half-goat friend.

Percy wanted to convey the king of Gods about his innocence towards the lightning bolt and get back his mother. To his journey towards the hell, with the help of his half-goat friend and his beloved girl, Anna Beth. The movie is too fast but with the humorous actions made the audience bored. Chris Columbus, being a successful director of Harry Porter, failed once again after Night at the Museum 2. Better luck next time.

$95 million budget movie grossed only 30 %. My rating is 2.

This week movies are waste of money

The Wolfman

15 02 2010

The Wolfman

Lawrence (Benicio Del Toro) returns to his hometown to investigate the death of his brother Ben (Simon Merrels). Staying at his family’s estate with his estranged father John (Anthony Hopkins), Lawrence vows not to leave until he finds out the killer. By then, Lawrence was seriously wounded by an animal attack. Later, his bite marks threatens him to reveal itself with the approaching full moon. Did he cure from the bite? Did he become beast? Did he find the killer? The answers are the remaining story.

“The Wolfman” is strong in special effects of both visual and audio but failed to strengthen the base of the story. The thrilling horror scenes rocked in the Hoyts Extreme Screen but not in our heart because of ineffectual screen play and story. The cast was a good one but the performance was not. While Emily Blunt, as Gwen Cunliffe, moved from Ben’s fiancée to Lawrence closely made audience to “ooooohhhhh….”.

$150 million budget movie grossed only 35 %.
My rating is 2.5 for its special effects.

The Mummy: Tomb of the dragon Emperor

2 08 2008

Tomb of the dragon Emperor
When I heard “The Mummy” is getting released in this August, I expected similar actions and adventures as in previous series. So, this weekend “Adlabs” trip for “The Mummy: Tomb of the dragon Emperor”. But, this film is an unexpected one. These are the following things which differ from previous movies “The Mummy” and “The Mummy Returns”:

1. Jet Li as a villain.
2. Our favorite heroin “Rachel Weisz” is missing.
3. Talk about Immortal and all stuff as in Chinese movies.

Brendan Fraser did his part well once again. Go and watch as a Jet Li movie. I’m waiting for another good movie from “The Mummy” series.
